These terms apply whenever you buy a service from Slatehouse Studio. Please read them before you pay. If anything is unclear, email slatehousestudio@gmail.com and I'll explain.
1. Who we are
Slatehouse Studio is a trading name of [Your full name], a sole trader based in the United Kingdom, at 1 Example Street, London EC1A 1AA, United Kingdom. In these terms, "I", "me" and "we" mean [Your full name] trading as Slatehouse Studio. "You" means the person or business buying a service.
2. Services
I provide website design and development, custom software development, technical consulting and website maintenance. All services are delivered remotely and digitally. No physical goods are sold or shipped.
3. Quotes and agreement
- Before any project starts, I'll send you a written quote describing the work, the price, the payment schedule and the expected timeline.
- A contract is formed when you accept the quote in writing (email is fine) or pay the first invoice.
- Quotes are valid for 30 days.
- Work that isn't described in the quote is outside its scope and will be quoted separately before it is done.
4. Prices and payment
- All prices are in pounds sterling (GBP). I am not registered for VAT, so no VAT is charged.
- Payments are taken by card through Stripe. I never see or store your full card details.
- Website packages: 50% deposit before work starts, and the remaining 50% before the site is launched or handed over.
- Custom software: paid in milestones as set out in the quote. Each milestone is invoiced when it starts.
- Consulting and project reviews: paid in full when you book.
- Care plan: billed monthly in advance on a rolling basis until you cancel.
- Invoices are due within 7 days. If a payment is late, I may pause work until it is received.
5. What I need from you
To finish on time I'll need your content (text, images, logos), access to any accounts involved and timely feedback. If the project is paused for more than 30 days while waiting on you, I may reschedule it, and the original timeline will no longer apply.
6. Timelines
The timelines in a quote are estimates made in good faith. I'll keep you updated every week and tell you as soon as I know of a delay.
7. Changes and revisions
Each package includes the number of revision rounds shown on the pricing page. Further revisions or new features are charged at £55 per hour, and I'll always give you an estimate before starting.
8. Ownership
Once you have paid in full, you own the website or software built for you, including the source code and design files. Third-party components such as open-source libraries, fonts, stock images or plugins remain under their own licences. I may show the finished work in my portfolio unless you ask me not to.
9. Third-party services
Projects often depend on services such as hosting, domain registrars or payment providers. You'll hold these accounts in your own name and pay their fees directly unless we agree otherwise. I'm not responsible for outages or changes made by those providers.
10. Fixes after launch
For 30 days after launch I'll fix, at no charge, any bug that stops the work from doing what the quote described. This does not cover new features, changes you or others make to the code, or problems caused by third-party services.
11. Liability
I'll carry out all work with reasonable care and skill. My total liability to you for any project is limited to the amount you paid for that project. I'm not liable for indirect losses such as lost profit or lost data. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
12. Cancellation and refunds
How you can cancel and when you'll get a refund is explained in the refund and cancellation policy, which forms part of these terms.
13. Your personal data
I handle your personal data as described in the privacy policy.
14. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you're a consumer living elsewhere in the UK or the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in.
15. Contact
