This policy explains what personal data I collect when you visit this website or buy a service, and how I use it. I collect as little as possible.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is [Your full name], trading as Slatehouse Studio, 1 Example Street, London EC1A 1AA, United Kingdom. Contact: slatehousestudio@gmail.com.
What I collect
- Contact details you send me: your name, email address, phone number and company name.
- Project information you share so I can quote for and carry out the work.
- Payment information: payments are processed by Stripe. I receive your name, email, billing address and the last four digits of your card, but never your full card number.
- Technical data: the company hosting this website keeps standard server logs, such as IP address and browser type, for security purposes.
Why I use it, and the legal basis
- To reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote (steps taken at your request before a contract).
- To deliver the services you've bought and take payment (performance of a contract).
- To keep accounting and tax records (legal obligation).
- To prevent fraud and keep this website secure (legitimate interests).
I don't send marketing emails, and I don't sell or rent your data to anyone.
Who I share it with
- Stripe, to process payments. See Stripe's privacy policy.
- My email and website hosting providers, who store data on my behalf.
- An accountant and HM Revenue & Customs, where required for tax purposes.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. When they do, they use safeguards approved under UK law, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or standard contractual clauses.
How long I keep it
- Enquiries that don't become a project: 12 months.
- Client and payment records: 6 years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as required by HMRC.
Cookies
This website doesn't use tracking or advertising cookies. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers and shares your IP address with Google. When you pay, Stripe may set cookies that are needed for fraud prevention on its own payment pages.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to how it's used, and to receive a copy in a portable format. Email slatehousestudio@gmail.com and I'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how I've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
